LOOKING SO FORWARD TO THE WEEKEND
I can't wait for this weekend.
It is going to be great, I just know it.
Tomorrow we are going to Regina.
Jen and I are going to a few lectures in the evening.
On on natural health and another on whole foods.
Should be very informative.
On saturday Paul and I are going back to Saskatoon ALONE!!!
Yes, you read it right.
Jen and Jord are keeping Athena for the whole weekend.
I am so excited. Did I mention I am so excited?
We plan to stop in Saskatoon on our way back
to Delisle.
We are going to a pub for a few
pints of Newcastle Ale!
We haven't done that in almost a year.
We used to do it every saturday.
We will watch two movies in a row.
Both nights.
We will sleep in.
(Probably not but we will try)
We plan to rake leaves, wash windows.
put summer stuff away for the winter.
We will cook "adult" meals.
Spicy grilled shrimp.
Chateubriand.
It will be grand.
Paul will pick Athena up on monday afternoon,
as he has business in Regina.
I will have an entire day to myself.
WooHoo!!
Thank you so much Auntie Jen and Uncle Jordan
and Abby too.

DOES THIS SCENE APPEAL TO YOU?
It does to me.
An pathway leading somewhere.
To where?
What is around the next stand of trees?
This wooded path is a path I would like to walk down.
I could think undisturbed.
A walking meditation.
I would listen to the birds singing,
I would hear the sound of leaves
crunching beneath my feet.
I would smell the smells of the forest.
Musky, earthy.
When I close my eyes, this is what I see.
Solitude.
Serenity.
Peace.
Now does this scene appeal to you?
I does me.

Bitter Sweet Chocolate
As some of you (Jen, Jess and Jill) know,
I keep a stash of expensivish dark chocolate
in my corner cabinet.
Each night after dinner, I walk over and
take a piece.
I savor it.
I let it melt in my mouth before I begin to chew.
The girls have learned to love it too.
More Jess and Jill than Jen, but she may come around.
So I have been giving small pieces to Athena.
She likes it too.
The other day after dinner she said, and I quote
"Aseena meed a chokwat"
Translation:
Athena needs some chocolate.
So, I walk over to the pantry to get her
a dozen or so chocolate chips.
As I open the door she says, and I quote once again,
" No mommy no! Not that chokwat!
Over there! That one!"
As she points to my secret stash.
It is a secret no more.
PS Kaili, You are not the worst blogger, I am.
Look how long it has been!

It has been a long while since I have posted... I know. We've been busy with guests, BBQs, trips to Regina and hosting dinner parties. Lots of fun.
Fall is the time when I always took my girls to the doctor for their annual exams. I go then as well. This year was no different. We are seeing a new doctor in the city so our first visit was just a consultation.
We tell of our concerns and she hands out requisitions for bloodwork and urinalyses. Perhaps I should preface this story by saying my baby got some stitches in her forehead near the middle of August. She was dancing in the family room and fell and cracked her little head on a table leg. Poor thing. She was so brave as they froze her cut and put stitches in. Equally brave when they took them out.
This doctor visit was a little easier on her. The doctor checked her ears and poked around a little bit and gave her an orange lollipop. No biggie.
She was concerned with some inflamed lymph nodes on her right side so requested a CBC. Oh oh.
So, off we go on saturday morning. We stand in the waiting room as dozens of fasting coffee deprived adults scramble to grab a number. I am included. We are numbers 20 and 22. She is 20. They call her number and Paul bravely takes her in. The room falls silent as they wait with held breath. They are all looking at me. At last we hear the inevitable. It doesn't last long and after the bandaid is on she is fine. My turn. I decide to hold her on my lap as I have my bloodwork done. They put the elastic on my upper arm. Athena places her hand on the bend in my arm and defiantly looks at the tech. Don't do that to my Mommy. How cute. Now we await results. No more needles for another year. At least we hope not.
