GOOD NIGHT MY LOVES
It is 8:29pm. Sunday.
Paul arrived home safely yesterday.
Athena and I were both thrilled to see him.
She was giddy with excitement.
She couldn't stop hugging him.
Neither could I.
One day later...
we just finished Sunday dinner.
Roast chicken, boiled new potatoes with cream,
sliced tomatoes with sea salt and extra virgin olive oil,
roasted onion and carrots with sage and thyme.
Athena is bathed. Paul is showered up.
Both are fast asleep.
Not what I bargained for.
Oh well.
It is peaceful anyway.
Tomorrow is another day.

WELL NOW I KNOW

Well now I know how to get comments on my blog. Just type a post about Jen. Who knew?

AN INSPIRATION
Poor poor Jen. She has had a tough few months.
She has handled everything so well.
She has had setback after setback.
Disappointment after disappointment.
She has moved away from her friends.
She has been without Jordan for almost 3 full weeks.
She has been displaced from her home.
She has lived as a guest in other peoples houses.
All the while looking after Abby.
I must say, she hasn't complained.
She has kept her spirits up despite all.
She has handled this trying time with dignity and grace
She is and inspiration to me.
She should be one to you as well.
I am very proud.

END OF AUGUST
What I love love love about the end of August
is the beautiful harvest moon.
That no matter how warm it gets,
the nights are wonderfully cool.
The wonderful bounty at the Farmer's Market.
The tomatoes ripening on the vine...
in my own backyard.

MISSING MY MAN
One week down, one week to go.
Can't wait until you are back from Denmark.
I love you.

DREAMING OF AUTUMN
I am tired of summer.
I never have liked it much.
Hot weather.
Dirt and grass dragged in the house.
I am longing for cool days.
Colored leaves.
Geese honking as they fly overhead.
Enjoying a slow cooked beef stew.
Fires in the fireplace.
Warm sweaters and slippers.
The smell of autumn fires.
May it arrive soon.

Athena recently spent some time with her
family in Moose Jaw.
These are her cousins and her Grandma.
She had a great time.
Grandma even took her on the waterslides!

ITS APPLE PICKING TIME
Paul and Athena recently picked apples from our tree.
She had so much fun.
I have a bucket of apples and no desire to process them
I should have sent them home with Abby.
She put a good dent in them while she was here.
I could have given them to Jen as
she made apricot and cherry jam already.
I really should use them.
Really I should.
I think I will.
Who am I kidding?

BUSY BUSY BUSY
What a busy few weeks it has been. August is half over and it seems like a blur.
On the 6th Paul and I had a family barbeque for the Thompson family. It went really well. Keri and Don and their family stayed overnight and Jen and Abby flew in from Summerland as well. Jen and Abby just left today around 5pm so I have had company for 10 days straight. I am exhausted!
It was so nice to have Jen and Abigail here though. Jen is good company. Sweet sweet woman. Abby is adorable. She and Athena had a grand time together.
Athena went to visit her Grandma and Grandpa and Mike for 3 days during that time. She had fun and was happy to be home too.
Paul left for Denmark on Sunday. He is away for 2 full weeks. That will be difficult but will pale in comparison to Jen and Jordans 3 week separation. If she can do it, so can I. I think. Maybe not.
Anyway, as my company is gone and my husband is too, I should have plenty of time for blogging in the week to come. Stay tuned.
